Biography
Lauren LaStrada (Lead Vocalist) is an award-winning actress, singer, published author, and motivational speaker. A versatile powerhouse with six Best Actress awards and five nominations across stage and film, Lauren is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA, Actors’ Equity Association (AEA), and the Detroit Federation of Musicians (DFM).
Lauren’s singing career launched at just 18 years old when she took the stage at the legendary Baker’s Keyboard Lounge with her first band, GALAXY. Since then, she has released her debut album, Rock Steady, and graced the stages of premier festivals and venues, including Campus Martius Park, Riverdays, Concert of Colors, Festival of the Arts, Aretha’s Jazz Cafe, and Eddie V’s. She also had the distinct honor of serving as the singing Mistress of Ceremonies for the March of Dimes in Newport Beach, California.
An alumnus of The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute and the Detroit School of Arts (under Band Director Edward Quick), Lauren boasts an illustrious career in musical theatre. She portrayed Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill at the Stella Adler Theater in Hollywood—a role she later reprised Off-Broadway, earning a Wilde Award nomination for Best Actress and standing ovations at every performance. Her theatre credits also include a Best Supporting Actress award for Ain’t Misbehavin’ and two Best Lead Actress awards for New York playwright Andrea Lepcio’s Looking for the Pony and My Soldiers.
Over the course of her career, Lauren has collaborated with major industry visionaries, including Broadway star Ted Louis Levy in One More Rhythm (portraying Ella Fitzgerald), Debbie Allen, Vondie Curtis-Hall, and director Mikell Pickney in the original Harlem production of Radio Soul. On screen, her film and television credits include a recurring role as Lina in Season 3 of Paramount Plus’s Mayor of Kingstown, Clarisse in Steven Soderbergh’s HBO Max drama No Sudden Move, Detective Sarah Jones in the CBS series FBI, and the acclaimed indie Western Wild Faith, which garnered her three international Best Actress awards.
Deeply committed to giving back, Lauren is a recipient of the Spirit of Detroit Award for her contributions to arts education and the community. She is also the author of the Simple Wisdom book series and regularly shares her voice as a motivational speaker for outreach programs, churches, and conferences.
