Biography

Alan Ayoub is well-known for his great sound on the guitar and authentic ease in playing across diverse musical genres. Based in the Detroit-area, Al can frequently be heard performing on the guitar, banjo and mandolin in top symphony orchestras throughout the United States, when he is not using his talents in rock, jazz, R&B and musical theater venues.

As well as being a former conductor/guitarist of the off-Broadway musical show Beehive, Al can be heard on the Leonard Slatkin/Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s recording of Copland’s Billy The Kid. He has performed and/or recorded with Pat Metheny, Mary Wilson of The Supremes, the Motown Funk Brothers Joe Messina and Bob Babbit, Renee Fleming, virtuoso violinist Nigel Kennedy, Neil Sedaka, Ellis Hall, Paul Williams, Jeff Tyzik, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Michigan Opera Theatre, the Fisher Theater Orchestra, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, The Dallas Symphony Orchestra, The Grand Rapids Orchestra, Angela Bofil, Jeff Lorber, James Lloyd of Pieces Of A Dream, Bobby Floyd, Johnny Trudell, Bob James, Kirk Whalum, Phil Marcus Esser, Charlie Latimer, flutist Alexander Zonjic, and Little Anthony and the Imperials.

Al toured for 2 years across North America with the hit Broadway musical Mamma Mia! In spring of 2013, he had the honor of playing the music of Kurt Weill with the Detroit Symphony at Carnegie Hall. Al has been heard on numerous national radio and television program theme songs and commercials and has performed twice for Pope John Paul II – in 1987 and 1993.

Along with his musical performance skills, Al has maintained a significant body of knowledge of the role of technology with the guitar and the science of sound, as well as in the modern computerized recording studio environment and, in that latter capacity, has worked with international recording artists, including Marshall Mathers (EMINEM) and Dr. Dre.
